Reputation 05:01
Reputation We see based on appearance alone. At least it seems that way sometimes. We wear these shallow masks we find to cover up the scars. We grow when put to the test, but we are transparent. Friendly elitists mean no harm, but they take the easy way out. Don’t fool yourself, the parts are rough, but the circle’s round, and Anyway, this isn’t our real home. Yeah, I’ve buried my gifts in the sand. Can’t shake that reputation. “I don’t feel,” I tell myself to get by. Yeah, I wonder if it’s the same with you. I know that reputation. I must try to find the real you inside. We tried to control what brings joy and left disillusioned. Painting our faces, but they don’t look the way they started. Don’t fool yourself, the parts are rough, but the circle’s round. And anyway, this isn’t our real home. Yeah, I’ve buried my gifts in the sand. Can’t shake that reputation. “I don’t feel,” I tell myself to get by. Yeah, I wonder if it’s the same with you. I know that reputation. I must try to find the real you inside. I know it’s not about me. I know I should be past it, But the tip of my tongue weighs heavy like an anchor. But I’m still on the wagon. Please don’t give up on me. It’s just that I hate the attention of change. I hate the attention of change. I hate the attention. I squander every chance I get. Don’t want that reputation. What’s the use? I never wanted to try. I brought this all upon myself. Don’t need a reputation. Should have learned to bury the self in this life. Yeah, yeah.

Follow 03:49
Follow You and I, we're lost inside our dreams. Hand in hand, we walk on water, so deep. Left with hope that we can see the end. Eye to eye, we wait and we wonder why. And all the while we lose control, oh yeah. Stand and watch our lives unfold, oh yeah. Patience, we'll build a tower, so high. Patience, we'll watch it tumble down. Is it courage or fear that makes us let go? Sacrifice what matters most, but why? And all the while we lose control, oh yeah. Stand and watch our lives unfold, oh yeah. Follow, follow, if we take this chance, another will come. Can't wait 'til tomorrow. Can't wake up now and let the dream fade. No time for sorrow, must stand and face the obstacles now. Follow, follow, we can go there. Over, over, why? Over, over, why? Over, over, why? Over, over, why?

A Soldier Returns A soldier comes back from the war. He's standing outside a locked door, but it's just a metaphor, so easily discarded. But what if that door was a heart? Should he break in or quit from the start? Or should he stand there, one with the air, faltering without direction. Just take his eyes so he doesn't see the world through your lies. And take his ears, so he can't hear the promise you vowed to break, the stand that you'll never take. Regretting he ever came home, just shadows where once he had known. From things left undone, there's nowhere to run, just memories forsaken, a dream he has awakened. Just take his eyes so he doesn't see the world through your lies. And take his ears, so he can't hear the promise you vowed to break, the stand that you'll never take. “You came back, heart in your hand. You came back.” Just take his eyes so he doesn't see the world through your lies. And take his ears, so he can't hear the promise you vowed to break, the stand that you'll never take. A solider comes back from the war.

The Songwriter All I ever wanted was to reach the ones they never reached, to reach the ones they left behind, to reach the ones like me. But the years have fallen like the snow. They melt away and I don't know if I can keep this up any more. Now I'm staring at a half-filled glass in a half-lit room in a chair out back, another night with no one left inspired. So maybe I'm the only one. The mirror is my stage and crowd. Like a tragicomedy, I'll take a bow. But you're still around. I know you're trying to take a frown from “goodbye” to “I'm still with you.” Now the melodies outweigh the words, forsaken memories unheard, just writing left to fade right off the page. But the smiles and tears were never words. They're never bound by what endured on a stage where life is only just a game. Standing at another crossroads, like so many times, they always take me to the only place I want to be. So if I am the only one, well, that's okay, 'cause I'm not done. The heart is full and that's what this song needs. You're still around. I know you're trying to take a frown from “goodbye” to “I'm still with you.” You're still around. I know you're trying to take a frown from “so long” to “I still love you.” Give me hope. Give me joy and restraint. Give me peace. Give me want and restraint. (You're still around. I know you're trying to turn a frown around.) Years go by. I've heard that song before. Won't you say, “It's alright.” It's alright.
